I liked all of Ai Otsuka’s singles this year!
My two favorite songs by Ai are HEART and POCKET, both from this year. ^^

CHU-LIP c/w Kimi ni Kaeru:
CHU-LIP is a crazy song that I can listen to only when i’m feeling crazy myself.
I love Kimi ni Kaeru. The guitar and vocals go together perfectly.

PEACH/HEART:
At first I didn’t like PEACH very much, but after watching her performance at a-nation ‘07 and reading the lyrics, it’s grown on me. i love the lyrics, they are so funny and cute.
HEART was the first song that i ever heard by ai and also my favorite! some may find it boring and somewhat repetitive, but for me, it creates a feeling of nostalgia but with a very light, content sentiment.

Pocket c/w Ticket:
Pocket is amazing. I even made a piano solo arrangement for it! ‘Nough said.
Ticket is a really nice piano intro that cascades into a cheery winteryness with a light guitar accompaniment. Definitely a solid B-side.

• Music Artist of the Month #2

mihimaru GT is a popular J-Pop/J-Urban/J-HipHop duo made up of Miyake (composer, lyricist, and rapper) and Hiroko (lyricist and vocalist). Their popularity has steadily been rising since their debut in 2003. Their singles typically peak in the top 10 or 20 of the Oricon weekly charts. They are best known for their hit singles “Kibun Jōjō (気分上々↑↑)” and “Itsumademo Hibiku kono Melody” and their latest single “Gazen Yeah!”. My personal favorites are “ツヨクツヨク (Tsuyoku Tsuyoku)” “MEJIRUSHI”. They will soon be releasing a new double A-side single entitled “I Should Be So Lucky / Ai Kotoba”.

Ai Otsuka is a talented and beautiful J-Pop artist that debuted in 2003. She is a singer-songwriter and pianist. Her songs are generally very cheerful and bright, while her music videos range from melancholy for the powerfully emotional pieces, such as “Daisuki da yo”, to hyper for the overwhelmingly perky songs, such as “Frienger”.

Her latest album is “LOVE PIECE”, which was released on September 26, 2007. It features “HEART”, a laidback, relaxing song that flows with clarity and radiance, two of her singles, “CHU-LIP” and “PEACH”, and “Renai Shashin”, a warm, heartfelt piece that closes the album.
